How to sort everything we send you

Textiles have been subject to the Triman symbol and the info-tri sorting instruction in France since 1 February 2023. This page says what to do with each part of an order — the garments, the inner packaging and the carton.

The symbols on your order

Triman is the French sorting logo. Its presence means the item is covered by a sorting scheme and must not go in the general waste bin.

Info-tri is the instruction printed beside it, saying which parts go where. On a clothing order it separates the garments from the packaging, because they follow different streams.

These are regulated official graphics. They are printed on the product labelling and the packaging you receive; on this page the instruction is given in words so it is readable by a screen reader and translatable.

Sorting the garments

Every garment goes into the textile collection stream, whatever its condition. Worn out, stained, torn, missing a button — it all still goes to textile collection, not to the general waste bin. Damaged textiles are recycled into insulation, wiping cloths and new fibre; only items in good condition are resold.

Before you drop anything off:

  • make sure it is clean and dry — wet textiles spoil the rest of the collection;
  • bag it in a closed bag, tied;
  • keep pairs of socks together, tied or clipped;
  • remove any metal trim listed on the pack page — the zip on the zip sweat, the rivets on the work trousers. The garment itself still goes to textiles.

Each pack page lists that pack's environmental characteristics, including whether it is a single fibre or a blend and whether anything has to come off first.

Sorting the packaging

  • Outer carton: flatten it and put it in the paper and cardboard recycling.
  • Paper packing note: paper recycling.
  • Inner sealed packaging on underwear and sock packs: plastic recycling where your local scheme accepts flexible plastics; otherwise general waste.
  • Paper tape and labels: leave them on the carton — they are compatible with paper recycling.

All packaging in France has been sortable since the extension of sorting instructions to every household packaging item. If your local scheme differs, follow your local instruction — it takes precedence over ours.

Where to take textiles

  • Collection points: textile containers in car parks, at supermarkets and at recycling centres. The Refashion map of collection points covers the whole of France: refashion.fr.
  • Shops and charities: many take back textiles directly, whatever their condition.
  • Recycling centres (déchèteries): most have a textile container.

Elsewhere in the European Union, follow your national textile collection scheme — separate textile collection has been mandatory across the EU since 1 January 2025.

Our extended producer responsibility obligations

Textiles are a mandatory extended producer responsibility (EPR) category in France under the AGEC law. Businesses placing clothing on the French market must register with ADEME, receive a unique identifier (IDU), and contribute to the collection, sorting and recycling of what they sell.

Our registration with ADEME is under way. The identifier will be published on mentions légales and on every product page as soon as it is issued, and this notice will disappear. Until then a pending notice is shown on every page of the site rather than leaving the field silently blank.

Environmental characteristics

The AGEC law requires the environmental characteristics of a product to be published alongside it. Each pack page carries its own list. Across the catalogue:

  • Single-fibre cotton items — tees, most shirts, shorts, aprons and overshirts — go into the textile stream without any disassembly.
  • Blended items — sweatshirts, joggers, socks, underwear, twill shirts — go into the textile stream too, but are mechanically recycled rather than re-spun.
  • Wool-rich items — the wool-blend socks and jumpers — are suitable for mechanical recycling and their wool content is stated by percentage on the pack page.
  • Items with metal trim — the zip sweat and the work trousers — are flagged on their pack pages so the trim can be removed first.
  • No garment in this catalogue carries a coating, a laminated membrane or a plastisol print, all of which complicate textile recycling.
